Dr McLaren chose to become a general surgeon because it allows him to do what he enjoys most—solve problems, work with his hands and help the community. He has a special interest in helping patients in all areas of general surgery, especially abdominal wall and intra-abdominal pathology. His biggest influence in life has been his wife. “She is my partner, my support system and my rock, ” says Dr McLaren. In his spare time, he has volunteered with the Kalamazoo Special Olympics. When he's not helping his patients or volunteering his time, you may find him playing pickleball and spending time with his wife, children and dog.
